2021 Knysna Oyster Festival Dates Announced

Visit Knysna confirmed that the 2021 Knysna Oyster Festival will take place from 2 to 11 July.

Andrew Finn, the appointed Festival Coordinator for 2021 said that planning is underway and that they would like to encourage our local community to take this opportunity to be a part of this year’s Festival. “The main components of the programme will include sporting events, activities, arts and crafts and local business and entertainment.
The annual anchor events, the Knysna Cycle Tour and the Knysna Forest Marathon, are finalising participation formats for the respective events and will provide more information, once confirmed.

Finn said they are already in conversation with other event organisers and hope to put together an interesting and all inclusive programme. “The opportunity is also available to local artists, performers and anyone who is keen to be involved in promoting their creative skills – these can include arts and crafts lessons, yoga classes and even knowledge-based webinars.”

The Festival was initiated in 1983 as the Knysna Winter Festival to attract visitors during the off-season and has grown into an exciting 10-day family-friendly celebration of sport and the good life. A charity component ensures that each event allocates a percentage of funds raised to a local charity, and in pre COVID times the Festival raised more than R1 million a year for local charities.
