A Brief History of the Programme

The AA Awards Programme stems from the need for guests to have a reliable quality indicator which they can use when choosing a place to stay. Questionnaires are sent to participating establishments which are then given to their guests to complete. These questionnaires are then sent back to the AA where they are processed by a market research company. Based on these scores the AA are able to identify semi-finalists, finalists, highly commended establishments and winners. As an extra measure the AA have a panel of highly trained and experienced inspectors who travel around the country visiting the participants with the sole purpose of ensuring that that which is reflected in the scores is indeed on par with what is on offer at an establishment.
